Chronic Kidney Disease: Causes, Symptoms, and Management

Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is a progressive condition in which the kidneys gradually lose their ability to function properly. It can result from diabetes, high blood pressure, or other underlying conditions that damage kidney tissues over time. CKD is often asymptomatic in its early stages, but as it progresses, patients may experience fatigue, swelling in the legs, changes in urination, and high blood pressure.

Management of CKD includes controlling underlying conditions, adopting a kidney-friendly diet low in sodium and protein, and in severe cases, undergoing dialysis or a kidney transplant. Early detection is crucial to slowing disease progression and preventing complications such as cardiovascular disease and kidney failure.
